National Horoscope of the Republic of Cuba

Source: “Full independence was granted to Cuba by the USA at 12.00 noon on May 20, 1902 … this chart may be regarded as the prime horoscope for Cuba, even though some sources quote 10 December 1889 as the date of independence.” Nicholas Campion, “Book of World Horoscopes, ” p. 127.

Additional information: “Cuba has a long history of struggle for independence and social reform. For about 400 years, Spain ruled Cuba. During this period, many Cubans died in revolts against Spanish rule. In 1898, the United States helped defeat Spain in Cuba’s struggle for independence. Spain then gave up all claims to Cuba, and a U.S. military government ruled the island until 1902. In the 1930s, Cuba was controlled by a dictator, Fulgencio Batista. Fidel Castro and a band of rebels overthrew Batista on January 2, 1959, at 1:00 a.m. EST in Havana. They later set up a socialist government, with Castro as its head. The Republic of Cuba is one of the few socialist countries following the Marxist–Leninist ideology. The Constitution of 1976, which defined Cuba as a socialist republic, was replaced by the Constitution of 1992, which is “guided by the ideas of José Martí and the political and social ideas of Marx, Engels, and Lenin.” The constitution describes the Communist Party of Cuba as the “leading force of society and of the state”. On April 19, 2021, Miguel Díaz-Canel officially became the First Secretary of the Communist Party, the most powerful position in one party ruling Cuba, following the resignation of Raúl Castro. He is the first non-Castro to be in such a top position since the Cuban revolution of 1959.
